The Sun Will Appear

A melancholy mauve settles upon dreams,
Descending quickly, but without haste,
Encompassing and shrouding, smothering and clouding,
So happiness dives, encapsulated, into the deep,
Fearing, not wishing to peek out beyond its perimeters.
So get out and walk on the way to heaven but beware:
The road signs mislead and they point off elsewhere.
Here, where happiness is smothered, the hour glass turns slow...
Ponderingly so.
But there are answers here, to be glimpsed through the rain,
Lessons to be gleaned and a certain wisdom to gain.
That said, food doesn't settle and everything's afloat,
And the island's surrounded by a fearful moat.
Conversely, there are fish.
And where there are fish, you can be certain there's a hope, and a chance, if but a wish.
And in this place of eternal downpour and of isolation and, importantly, of fish,
There's a sun on the horizon, near where happiness hovers, still choked,
But winking now, through the rain drops.
And when the rain clouds gather and happiness dims away,
Keep your eyes open; the sun will appear...someday.
