But she didn't fall. It was merely a stumble, and she quickly righted herself before turning to face him, a small smile on her face. "Never do that to me again," he said, relief flooding into his features as he stopped by her side. And she giggled, jumping off the trampoline as he took her tiny hand in his.
And then I felt as if I was falling too, as if my own heart had torn into pieces and the ground had splintered in every direction.
But nobody ever came to catch me.
