Its eyes shined from the gloom; twinkling orbs of malice. They sat frozen in place, focused on the boy.

Sonny was soaked in sweat. He had no idea what to do, no plan of escape. If that thing attacked, he was dead.

The creature simply sat, staring with large eyes. Its mouth dripped with a crimson fluid, drool leaking to the floor. The red drips of blood contrasted greatly against its pasty, grey skin. It was a hideous sight.

Hunched over on all fours, it hopped on the spot and turned to face the boy. Sonny took a step back and stumbled, a rock crumbling under his foot.

The monster leapt back and growled, baring a set of disgustingly brown, rotten teeth. It swung its head up and down the tunnel, its few strands of hair swaying with the motion, before looking back at the boy. It growled once more and then, with sudden ferocity, sped off down the subway tunnel.

Sonny released the breath he had been holding and collapsed to the gravel floor. He let out a sigh of relief when he saw which direction the monster had chosen. It had ran off in the opposite direction, away from the boy's destination.

Sonny glanced at the creatures meal and grew pale. Amidst the blood and guts, he could see a hand. A human hand. He vomited at the sight of it.

The boy didn't sleep that night. He ate his can of beans cold and in silence, not daring to light a fire. He had almost lost his appetite, but realised quickly enough that it would not be wise to starve himself while roaming the tunnels. Yet, he still refused to sleep. One horror was enough for the night, he didn't need a visit from the Crimson Lady.
