I lie here and rest, Tired on my bed, Surrounded by family, In my heart and my head.
I have grown so old, And my time has come, So here alone I wait, To the sound of the drum.
I see them all above, Staring down at me, Caring and loving, Like they used to be.
So here alone I sit, In sweet serenity, Feeling peace at last, At this dear amenity.
I outlived them all, My family and friends, Some regrets were left, No time to make amends.
But I think that's okay, For we will meet today, To apologise for it all, And be sorry for delay.
Although I die alone, Without familiar charms, I will pass on happy, Straight into their arms.
