"The target was taken out. But he wasn't the only one she hit. He dodged, her bullet fatally hitting an innocent." Peter informed.
Christopher closed his eyes, knowing how Alix must be torturing herself. In appreciation, he nodded his thanks and walked to the shooting range where she often went to think.
"Alix?" he called as he walked onto the range. Christopher didn't get a reply so he just walked towards the sound of the gun shots and stood next to her in the firing booth.
"You want to talk about it?" Christopher asked.
"Nothing to talk about." she lied as she started to reload her weapon.
"Alix I know you." he pushed.
"What do you want to hear Chris?! That I screwed up? That I shot a civilian? That I feel guilty? Well I did and I do." Alix said, clearly angry with herself. This wasn't her first kill job but it was the first where she has killed somebody other than the target. Christopher opened his mouth to speak but Alix got there first.
"If you dare say the words 'accident' or 'collateral damage' then I swear I will take this gun and shove it somewhere uncomfortable." Alix warned.
"I wasn't going to. The situation was entirely out of your control, you did what I trained you to. Don't forget that you finished the job."
"Don't do that! Shout at me! Tell me I'm a disgrace and that if I don't pull my act together then I'm going to get cancelled!" Alix shouted slamming down her unloaded gun on the bench.
"Alix. You're one of the best. One mishap doesn't make you a bad agent. It makes you human." Christopher explained, remaining calm throughout, his years of experience shining through.
"I can't afford to be human! If they see that I care than I'm done, all of this will have been for nothing and I'm not okay with that!"
