I flinch as the sunlight creeps into the room,

Breaking through the slit between the drapes,

Bringing around sunrise as the new day blooms,

Filling the room with light as the darkness escapes,

I feel the warmth of the rays against my skin,

And attempt to drag myself from bed,

Eventually I open the curtains and let the sunlight in,

And watch the skyline as the sun rises above our heads,

I watch as the specs of dust reflect the light,

And the shadows as they disappear along with the night,
