Flowers by the roadside, rainbow coloured, new,
Sparkling with reflections in the early morning dew,
Grown to be attractive, then cut down in their prime,
A summers' blossom wilting, too long before it's time,
On the pavement, in the hedgerow, perched up in the grass,
A multi-coloured milestone for those of us that pass,
Their beauty often lost in the haste of the day,
I hope there'll be no more flowers, by the roadside, on my way.
