28 February 2013

Just then, the bell rang so we could all go to next class. I was the first to run out of the locker rooms and didn’t talk to anyone, not even Emmie, on the way out. Not that long after I was walking out the bus doors and going through my front door. The first thing I did was run straight to my room. “How was school today, Honey,” my mom asked from the kitchen as she sliced up some potatoes for dinner. “It was fine,” I lied knowing she’d think I was crazy if I told her what really happened.

I took out my homework hoping it would take my mind off of the events of the day. Okay, so I have math, science, and social studies. Math was out of the question of what to do first because of what happened earlier that day. Social studies seemed the easiest so I decided to start with that. The first question was: What are some things that helped the 13 colonies win the American Revolution against the British? Well, the Americans had a lot of help from foreign countries, I thought. What else…..wait what about how they protected themselves? I thought and thought, but my mind couldn’t stop thinking of the day. Oh, I got an idea: The Americans probably all flew 6 feet in the air to avoid being shot. I was getting nowhere so I just put my homework to the side and flopped onto my bed. Why is everything so confusing? “Hope, dinner’s ready!” I heard my mom announce from down the hall. I got up and went downstairs.

My mom, my dad who just arrived home from work a couple minutes before, and I all sat around our small circular dinner table. For dinner, my mom made chicken, homemade potato chips, and green beans from Stop and Shop. I filled my plate with all three and we all started eating. “So, what did you do today, Hope,” my mom asked. Right then, I wished I wasn’t American and instead was Japanese, where you don’t talk at the table, but I didn’t have a choice so I decided to say the truth anyway.

“Mom, Dad, would you believe me if I told you some really weird things happened today?”

“Like what?” my dad asked.

“Well, in math I finished 200 questions in one minute, and in gym I flew and somehow threw a ball at someone with my mind.”

Everyone was quiet for a moment. Then, suddenly, my dad let out a loud laugh which made my mom start laughing, too. After a minute or so, my parents noticed that I wasn’t laughing with them, but instead was frowning. “Sweetie, are you okay?” my dad asked with concern written across his face. “Yeah, I’m fine,” I replied and went to the sink to put my dish away. Once again, I went back to my room.

I knew I had to get my homework done, so that’s what I did first. After I finally finished, I was really tired, so I decided to go to sleep even though it was only 7:10. I quickly changed into my pajamas and got in bed. I was asleep before I was able to put on my blankets.

I woke up again to find that it was still dark out. I looked around and saw that my iPod touch was lit up and said, “New Message from unknown.” I was very tired and just wanted to go to sleep, but I had a weird feeling that the message was important so I went to see what it said. I opened the iMessage app and went to the new message. In all caps, it said, “IMPORTANT! YOU ARE ONE OF THEM AND THE TIME IS NOW. WE NEED YOU TO LEAD US. DON’T TELL ANYONE. MEET ME AT 23 ON Vendredi AT THE PLACE WITH NO BIRDS, BUT STILL ANIMALS FLY WHEN THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO. FIND OTHERS. HINT: NOVEMBER 22nd.

I had no idea exactly what that meant, but I knew that a guy that wouldn’t mention his name wanted me to meet him wherever it is that he said. Also, it said not to tell anyone. I remember when all the students in our school went to the auditorium in the beginning of the year and they talked about criminals acting like kids or friends and then asking them to meet them so they can kidnap them. The thing was that he wasn’t trying to act like a kid, it seemed like it was the complete opposite. Again, I had a weird feeling that this man was important and I had to go. But what did the message mean in the first place. It says at 23 which could be the time, but 23 doesn’t make sense. That means the last part is where it’s at. I was too tired to think so I just went back to bed and hoped that he didn’t want to meet tomorrow or the next day.
