The memories held inside my mind still hum with a quiet tune Tethered by the thinnest thread, that was made to break too soon. Billowing winds attack the line that holds all feelings dear Binding to my broken heart what failed to disappear. Reminders of those moments passed beneath the graying sky, Free falling from too far beyond where northern birds could fly. Words uttered through the raging storm; smiles swapped within the mist A glance exchanged, a shaking hand that clasped the other's wrist. Then waiting for the journey home and the ending of the day Sat side by side like silenced kids, not willing to give away, The emotions brewing deep within where we both failed to walk The sound of cars on dampened road, encouraging us to talk. But still we sat and both denied the fire that burned within Like friends we laughed a mutual laugh, a laugh so paper thin. Oblivious to each other's thoughts, we made assumptions there Sat at the bus stop, Rising Sun, a memory we both share. So thunder roared with a gust of wind; rain thickening up above. Drenching us with the droplets of what could have been true love.
