The truth about writing is that you can make the present the past; you can write about something as though it was already over. You can contain the present day into a small glass bottle, put it on display and accept it as something that has already happened, and nothing more. Once its meaning, its drama, has been written down, and once the cap on the pen has been clicked on, you can pretend as though you have drained it of all of its promises. You can convince yourself that it's all over. But the truth about life is that even the things you reject in the present, are not necessarily the past. What we claim to be 'over' is never really 'over.' The truth about life is that nothing is really over until you die, and even then you'll leave a trail of unresolved narratives behind you, continuing on.

An idea taken from Nick Horby's book 'Juliet, Naked,' interpreted and extended, with some phrases taken from the book.
