People tell me it's easy to believe in a God

that a growing population fails to accept

They tell me it's childish to seek his help,

To thank him, talk to him and show respect

It's a fairytale they say, so why cling on?

Why bother with faith when all has failed

Why believe in a Father you cannot see?

Society's ship has long since sailed.

You have it easy, they sneer at me

You have someone to blame and ask for all!

But we are abandoned, where has He gone?

Why do we have nowhere else to fall?

They ridicule the fact that I feel secure

Instead they feel that hope is lost

Can't accept the idea that I have somewhere to turn.

That there is no payment, there is no cost!

It's difficult speaking to those stubborn hearts.

I tell them through tears that they can choose

They turn scientific and attack me with facts.

The wars, the pain, the loved ones they lose.

Then it turns to abuse, the laughter and jokes.

And sometimes I feel so morally wrong

They want their answers and challenge me so

And ask me what's kept me so faithful so long.

People tell me it's easy to believe in a God

And yes faith itself can be quick to hold

But the people around me are hard to convince

Only accepting what they have been sold.
