Life

No one told me life would be easy
They never told me life was hard
Silver spoons I never knew
Privilege belonging the chosen few.
All I ask is for fairness,
Warmth and food to eat,
A blanket round my shoulders,
And slippers for my feet.
If you saw me in a doorway,
Don't hurriedly pass me by,
You may not hear me whisper,
Help me! I do cry.
Don't judge me as I sit here,
One day it could be you,
For I was never privileged
As one of the chosen few.
They tell me that God loves me,
Well maybe they are right,
I'm still here surviving,
I won't give up this fight,
To LIVE.
