I walk outside, barefoot, taking in the warm summer breeze. The morning dew on the dark green grass greets my feet. The sun's powerful rays shine down on me and brighten my face making me appear almost flawless. Almost. I break into a run as I hear birds sing in the woods and my feet crunch the pine needles scattered over the woods. Now is my chance to catch rare glimpse of the cardinal and blue jay chicks. They're gorgeous. They have sapphire blue bodies with ruby red heads. I call them the gems of our land. I take in the sweet smell of evergreens and freshly cut grass. I love days like this.
