I knew I wasn't welcome in Mollie and I's room that night. As soon as I entered to gather my vital belongings, I felt her cold glare on my back, following me with every move I took. I gathered two day's worth of outfits, my technology (laptop, iPad etc.) and my Breakfast At Tiffany's DVD. No doubt it would be the only thing keeping me sane without Mollie in my life.
I didn't really know where I was going to go. It was pretty late now, and the only thing on my mind was a little bit of food and a long sleep. I looked around at all the rooms, full of girls. I knocked on a few doors, and after many people rearranging sleeping quarters, I managed to find a room with a group of girls. They weren't unpopular as such, but they certainly weren't Mollie.
They insisted on spending the whole night doing my makeup, and back combing my hair into intricate twists and braids, until I looked like a drag queen. They then tired of this fun game, with their shiny new toy, and allowed me to go and sit on my makeshift bed with my laptop.
One of the quieter girls, Isabelle I think her name was, looked up at me through her large full moon glasses, and asked if I wanted her bed, and that she'd sleep on the piles of pillows, and blankets that had been arranged for me. I politely declined the offer, explaining that as long as there was a pillow under my head and no one who despised me lying in the same room that I'd be just fine.
That was clearly the wrong thing to say to a room of girls whose main concern was their new friend.
"What?" "What's happened with you and Mollie?" "I thought something was up you know!" came millions of squeaky voices.
"it's nothing, honest." I said, pressing play on Breakfast at Tiffany's.
"What are you watching?" Isabelle asked.
"Breakfast at Tiffany's. It's my favourite film" I explained.
"Can I watch?" "Ooh me too!" "and me!" came a chorus of voices from around the room.
We all ended up sitting in a semi circle around my laptop, eating sweets and watching the film. It was nice to be surrounded by girls who, if not a little annoying, weren't judging me, or my situation. As I started to tell Isabelle and her best friend what had happened with Mollie, they listened understandingly and intently, and took my side.
"It's okay though, I'm sure it'll blow over soon." I said, turning back to watch Audrey Hepburn sat on her bath-couch.
I hope it will blow over, I thought to myself, as I looked across to where my room was, and to where my best friend was waiting, plotting her revenge on me.
"I'll leave my laptop here, but I'm just going back to my room. I think I've forgotten something."
"Okay!" they all said in astounding unison. I walked out of the door, and down the corridor to the cream door at the end. I pushed it open to see something I hadn't wanted to see, and that repulsed me as well as making me heart drop and my dreams shatter.
