"Let's go out tonight" Joe proposed whilst Tiffany excused herself to the bathroom, secretly brandishing another pregnancy test. "Butter again?" Ellie suggested, stroking Serena's tiny tufts of brown hair. "Sounds good to me, I'll book a table" Nate said, before adding "What about Serena?" "Mother would love to take her, I'm sure" Ellie suggested again, pulling out her phone to dial her. "It'll be my first night away from her though.." Nate said, longingly. "You'll be fine. If Tiffany can manage then so can you. Come on, it'd be good to let your hair down a bit!" Joe said, digging his brother in the ribs. "Where's Tiffany? She's been ages?" Ellie asked impatiently. "I'm going up anyway, I'll go and check on her" Joe said, standing and then ascending the grand staircase. "T? How's it going?" he asked, knocking on the bathroom door and pushing it open. "Oh Joe" she said, throwing herself at him and holding onto him. "Positive?" Joe asked before Tiffany handed him the test to answer his question. "What am I going to do?" she cried, sobbing hard into his chest. "You're going to go down and see your beautiful baby, then you're going to look at your husband and then about how perfect your life is. This baby is just going to make it better, I promise" he said, holding her cheeks in his hand to make sure she looked him deep in the eye. "I don't know where I'd be without you" she whispered, catching her breath from her incessant sobs. "Come on, let's go downstairs" he said, wiping her eyes in the same way that Nate does and leading her by her hand down to the living room.

"Are you two ready yet?" Joe called up to the two girls as he waited awkwardly with his brother at the foot of the stairs, with his sister-in-law's mother sat with Serena in the living room. "Sorry sorry" Ellie muttered, lifting the skirt of her black floor length dress so she could descend the stairs. "You look great" Joe said, smiling and kissing her on the cheek, as his eyes wondered to the top of the stairs and to the stunning beauty at the top. "You look absolutely--" "Glorious" Joe completed Nate's sentence, eyes transfixed on Tiffany as she too began to come down the stairs, gliding in such a casual way, as if she'd never walked normally in her whole life. "Let's go shall we?" Ellie asked, dragging her boyfriend towards the door. "Let me just say goodbye to Serena" Tiffany said, trotting on her heels in to see her mother. "Oh Tiffany, you haven't looked this good for such a long time. You're glowing" her mother said, to Nate's amusement as she didn't know about the second baby yet. "Thank you. Will you be alright with her? My number's on the side, next to the phone, and you've got your cell so you can contact me that way" "Shh, it's fine. Go on, have a good time you four, don't worry about timings or anything, I'll stay as late as is necessary" "Thank you" Tiffany said, kissing her mother's cheek then her baby's, before she headed out into the warm summer's evening. A warm glow of iridescent oranges and reds was surrounding the hazy horizon of New York, and as they stepped out, the light breeze that was drifting around the air caught at Tiffany's dress, sending it's white lengths billowing out to one side, away from Nate and into Joe, but he didn't attempt to release them from the creases in his trouser. Instead, he let them settle there, until the wind died down and let her dress drift back down to her ankles. "Let's go" Ellie said, linking arms with Tiffany and clinging onto Joe's arm as he attempted to keep up with Tiffany's strong and determined strides across New York City's pavements.

"Good morning you" Nate said, rolling onto his side so he could face his wife. "Morning" she replied, delicately groaning as she stretched her arms out above her head. "You're absolutely gorgeous in that light" he said, indicating to the showering of golden light that was cascading onto her barely clothed body "You're getting some colour back in your skin" "I know, I've been out on the roof whenever possible" she said, pulling out her pinky and tracing it on Nate's chest as he edged closer towards her, rippling his muscles as he did so. "Where's Serena?" Tiffany asked all of a sudden, shooting up to realise that her crib was empty. "Shhh" Nate hushed, pushing her gently back down "Ellie has her" "Isn't she really hungover? You three had quite a lot to drink last night" "We're all fine. Come on, lie back" he said, teasing her back down to horizontal. "What's that grin for?" she enquired, noting the small glimpse of pearly white teeth that we're visible through Nate's slightly parted lips. "I was just remembering something" he whispered slightly. "A secret?" Tiffany giggled, leaning further in so he could whisper it in her ear, just like when they were little children again. "Serena isn't our only child" he smiled, and that was the moment when Tiffany finally agreed that this baby was the right thing. She looked beyond Nate's beaming perspective, and into his soul. She saw how happy the idea of another child made him, and how overjoyed he'd be not only to have a shot at a son, but a second child who'd call him daddy. She saw the glorious golden patterns being drawn by Nate's heartbeat where there once was darkness, and she saw how his heart leapt when he muttered those simple yet effective words. "I know" Tiffany replied, smiling and reaching out for Nate's hand so she could press it against her stomach. "You'd better be a boy you know" Nate said, grinning wider and brighter than before. "Your big sister needs protecting until she finds a man like your daddy" Tiffany stated, looking up from their hands to Nate's face, which was staring with such an incommunicable glow without being outwardly pleased. His whole face was lit up: his eyes were bright and his face was stretched over a closed smile. "I love you" he stated plainly and clearly for all to hear, before Tiffany repeated it back. "I'm sorry I have to leave you" Nate said. "It's alright, you'll be back tomorrow afternoon. You've got to get good grades for your son and daughter" she said, kissing him whilst keeping her hand securely packed on top of his on her stomach. "Marry me?" "We're already married, silly" she laughed, kissing him again before he refused it. "No, I mean marry me again. Last time was rushed and it wasn't your dream day. Let me marry you again and we'll do it properly; for us and not the public" "Are you serious?" Tiffany said, biting her lip but smiling. "100%. I love you so much, and I know that will make you happy" "Thank you" she squealed, rolling on top of Nate and holding herself up with her core and arm strength. "God you're so beautiful" he whispered, pressing his lips into hers whilst tiny strands of Tiffany's hair cascaded down around their faces like a curtain. "I'm going to miss this when you're at school" she muttered between the tiny kisses they were sharing. "I have to do my exam" he said, kissing her in between statements "But you can call me all night. I'd rather speak to you than revise" "You need to revise" she said, exclaiming quietly as he shifted her up so she was almost crouched over his crotch. "Shh" he said, gazing into her eyes before continuing his path of kisses down from her cheek to her chest.

I love you Nate, this is how I wish we could spend every morning ❤
