-TIFFANY-
"Close your eyes" I said to Nate, standing behind him to cover his eyes. I felt his eyelashes flick across my palm, so I knew they were shut. Nonetheless, I kept my hands there so he wouldn't see what I'd prepared for him. I'd taken the elevator up before him, so he couldn't see what I was wearing, so this was all a surprise. The sun had gone down, and the phase of the evening when the sky is blue-turning had just passed, meaning that this was officially the night. On the streets below us, long strings of lights were visible, indicating roads packed with cars, commuting home. Dotted around the city were a million little suns, all lights from windows, illuminating the darkness. Looking left, there was a dark patch with very few lights: Central Park. And to the right was the Empire State Building, lit up like a midsummer's Christmas tree. On the tippy top of the Rock however, was a different scene entirely. I'd laid out a table, complete with food, chairs and champagne. On the other end, was a large rug. It was covered from head to foot in silk scatter cushions, and there too was champagne and rose petals. The whole area was adorned with the petals and with tiny tea lights, each emitting a small glow from a minute flame. As I took my hands away from Nate's eyes, the same glow was present in them. Perhaps it was the reflection of the city lights in his shiny eyes, or perhaps it really was a spark of youth and enthusiasm that had been hiding away beyond his manly exterior. "Happy anniversary" I whispered I'm his ear from behind, but it was almost as if he didn't hear me. He wondered around the area, surveying every inch, like I do in Tiffany's. "Say something?" I said, following him like a lost puppy. After a long, drawn out pause, Nate turned to me and put his hands on my hips "I love you. That okay?" "It'll do" I said, kissing him. "You look gorgeous. Is that the original?" he said, looking down at my Givenchy dress. It was iconic: the first dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's. It was quite tight fitting, which meant I looked more pregnant, but either way, it was a gorgeous dress. "No, cost enough to be though!" I said, sitting down. -NATE-
After our meal, Tiffany lead me over to the other side of the tower. She lay down on the rug and placed a cushion under her head. I stood above her and looked down at her for a few seconds. She reclined there, an undying elegance radiating from her. One can only imagine her to be Audrey Hepburn reincarnated, wearing that dress and sporting that poise and elegance. I knelt on all fours over her, and planted a single slow kiss on her lips, enjoying the smoothness of her lipstick against my lips. "Are you excited?" she asked me suddenly. "I've got a lot to be excited about, so can you please elaborate?" "Going back to school?" "Oh. That" I said, pondering the issue. Obviously I was happy to be seeing everyone again, especially Charlie. I was excited about swimming and diving again, and being back on the team. I was excited about working for our final year. But what I wasn't excited about was the reaction to our two pieces of news; from the teachers, the head and the other students. I wasn't looking forward to having a new influx of younger boys into my dorm, who didn't understand protocol. And I was definitely not looking forward to not waking up next to Tiffany everyday. "Kind of. Do you think we could ask to have a shared room?" I asked, now realising that my worst fears of not being with her all day, everyday were coming true. "I don't know, probably not. You're worried about being apart too?" "yeah. I mean, how long did we last today? Three hours?" "I think so yeah" "So how are we going to manage only seeing each other in Economics and after lessons? Then we'll have coursework and everything. We're barely going to see each other" I said, suddenly feeling stressed out. "Hey hey" she said, gently pushing me so I was sat up. She sat up too, and asked me to turn around. "Don't get stressed. I'll sort something out, don't worry" She began to work her fingers into a knot that had developed on my shoulder and up into my neck. "I'm supposed to be the one who de-stresses you, you're carrying our baby and everything, I'm--" "Shh" she said, cutting me off as I began to speak rapidly. "I'm fine, the baby's fine. Just relax please. You feel like you've got the weight of the world on your shoulders" After a few minutes of her hands working their magic on my shoulder, she began to replace her fingers with her lips, planting small kisses on the side of my neck. "We're going to be okay you know" I said to her, spinning round so we switched places. She leaned back so her head was resting in my lap, and she looked up at me. "I know" "You're not worried anymore?" "I've got you. What more could I ever need?" she asked me. "You're not worried about school?" "Not one bit" she replied, putting my fears to bed. "Good. Because I'm going to work twice as hard this year to get good grades, so I can earn as much money as the two of you will need" "Don't work too hard, I'd rather we spent time together" "Oh we will, I'll sleep less" I said, coming up with more and more ways to help out my little family. "Baby, please don't. You're going to need as much rest as possible if you're going to be a good daddy" she said, holding my hand and stroking it. Daddy. That was when it really dawned on me. I was going to be a father. I looked down at Tiffany for a moment, my face expressionless as I got my head around my new role. "Did I say something?" she said, pulling her head up. I placed a single hand on her stomach, and smiled. "I'm going to be a dad" "Yes you are, don't sound so surprised!" "I'm going to be a dad. I'm going to be a dad. Tiffany, I'm going to be a dad!" "I know!" she said, trying her hardest to match my excitement. "Oh god. I love you two" I said, first kissing Tiffany then her ever growing baby bump.
