-NATE-

"This is the perfect one" Tiffany said as soon as we walked into the fifth apartment of the day. "Let's have a look first" I began, but she was certain this was 'the one'. "I'll leave you two to wonder round" the estate agent said, as Nate and I meandered round the apartment. "I thought I was supposed to be 'the one'"? I asked, pulling her close and kissing her. It had obviously been a while since we were this close together, as I could feel the slight change in her body shape; mainly around her stomach. "You feel incredibly sexy" "Don't" she began "I already know I've put on weight. I just can't stop it!" "You feel amazing" I said, ravishing her body. "Are we looking round?" she said, pulling away and wondering towards the window in the master bedroom. "We'd have this room" she said, gazing out of the window. The view spanned across Central Park, exactly as her room at her home did. In the distance, south of the massive park was the towers: Rockerfeller, Empire and Crysler, all glinting in the sunlight. Far in the distance, if you really craned your neck, you could see the bright lights of Times Square calling out, the multitude of colours shining out, brighter than the sun. "It's quite amazing" she said, placing a single hand on the window pane. "It really is" I said, moving behind her and placing my hand on top of hers. "Which room do you think the baby will have?" "Well," she said, backing away from the wall and standing out on the corridor "This is Ellie's room". She pointed towards the second largest room on the other side of the apartment "So I think this one" she said, moving next door into the next smallest bedroom, which was directly next door to ours, on the other side of the large ensuite bathroom. We stepped inside, to remind ourselves of the room, and to imagine it all done up for the child. It was a well lit room, with windows also facing out onto Central Park. The walls were a rich cream colour, and the whole room was warm and welcoming. I pictured the decor we'd have, and I imagined the many nights I'd come in here and read our child a story, or sit with him or her and tell them things. The time I'd spend tidying it, the time I'd spend decorating it, the time I'd spend gazing at my child before they slept. "It's perfect" she whispered, placing her hands on her stomach, clearly imagining the same things. "We'll take it!" I shouted down to the agent, who was milling around near the foot of the staircase. "You don't need to know anything else?" "I know we love it, so that's enough!" Tiffany turned to me and smiled widely. "Really? This is all ours?" "Well obviously part of it is Ellie and Joes, and there's that room for Mollie and--" I started, but I was cut off by the kiss that was being planted on my lips. "Thank you" she said, quietly and into my chest. I held her head with one hand into my chest, and wrapped the other one around the curve of her back and pushed her closer into me. I continued looking around the room, thinking about all the memories that were yet to be made. I suddenly felt unbearably excited: I was really having a baby. Perhaps it hadn't quite dawned on me yet, or sunk in completely, but Tiffany was pregnant, and in a few short months she would be having a baby; our baby. "Let's go downstairs" I whispered to her, kissing the top of her head. "Alright" she said, dragging herself away from my chest. "When can we move in?" I said to the agent as Tiffany and I walked down the stairs hand in hand. The stairs were made of cream painted wood, with a burgundy stretch of carpet up the centre of them. They curved to the left on their journey down to the ground floor of the apartment, making them an elegant way to descend. "Well, once the money's been transferred, then I'm sure there's nothing wrong with you starting to move straight away!" the agent said, "I'll double check though". She pulled out her cell phone and dialled a number. She left the room for a minute and then came back, smiling and confirming what she'd just told us. "That's great!" Tiffany said, hugging me again. "I know, thank you so much!" I said, holding my fiancée and smiling at the agent. "I'll leave you to have a last look round, then I can set up the computer so you can start transferring the money?" "Of course, but I think we're ready now" I said, pulling out my card. "Hey, I thought we were paying with my money? And part of Ellie's?" "Please baby, I don't want to have to say that my fiancée bought our house" "When you're fiancée has just received her trust fund, that really shouldn't matter" she said, rummaging in her Chanel handbag for her purse. But by the time she'd dug it out, I had already handed over my card. "Please" I said to Tiffany, pushing her purse gently back into the bag. "We'll sort this out later if we really must" "Congratulations! This house is all yours now!"
