Chapter 7: Ghost ship

The ship was a sorry sight. The back half was burned and blackened. A light layer of ash covered everything like a gray deadly layer of snow. I bent down and examined the bodies on the ship and closed their eyes Wondering what it had been in their last moments, what their last words had been and if anyone had heard them. Everyone had died by the enemies hands or consumed my the fire. Tears lined the edges of my eyes as we covered the bodies and tossed them over the side. That night we slept on the deck. It was cold and the wind was fierce and hard tossing winds up over the side drenching me. After about the fifth time I had to spit out a mouthful of water I got up and walked over to the side of the ship and leaned over. Wave after wave hit me in the face drenching me in ice cold water,I figured that if I was going to get the ocean dumped on me I might as well get it over with. I clenched the side of the boat, teeth chattering and braced myself for each on coming wave. "Kat"!! I heard someone yell and I turned to see who it was. As I turned my foot caught on something and I tripped and was sent flailing into the water. Someone grabbed me by the arm and pulled me back away from the churning sea. "what where you doing, you Baka?" he said anger written all over his face "you could have drowned"!! I glared at him and said "I wouldn't have If you hadn't distracted me"! He rolled his eyes and helped me to my feet,"you English are so confusing" he said his brow creased in annoyance. I stuck my tongue out at him and shoved past him heading towards the other side of the ship. I tried to avoid him but it was sort hard being on a boat stranded in the middle of nowhere that had its whole backside freakin scorched off,but I did my best. The ship was Erie and dark at night I usually stayed awake all night, jumping at every sound and huddling in the dark trying to keep warm a couple of time I woke with Kiku's coat draped on my shoulders and wondered how he found me in this retched darkness. Soon we grew weak from lack of food and we where running low on water. "this is almost a Yūreibune" said Kiku one morning as we sat on the deck looking for new ships. " a what?" I asked " remember I don't speak Japanese". "a ghost ship said Kiku. I nodded in agreement this was like a ghost ship and I would be if someone didn't find us soon.
