Once upon a time, in the heavens, Sun and Moon lived together in perfect harmony. They loved each other so much that the Sun burned with passion and the Moon was a mess of craters because of all the asteroids it had protected the Sun against.
But all was not well. Mercury, the trickster, despised the lovers. He hated their passion and their light.
Mercury devised a plan. He flew close to the Couple and told them to let him whisper to them individually.
He whispers to the sun first. "Meet your Moon at the light area of the universal labyrinth."
Then he whispers to the moon. "Meet your Sun in the dark area of the universal labyrinth."
The Sun and Moon wait in there areas, wondering where their soul mates are. Suddenly, they hear Mercury's voice. "You will never find you're partner again."
Instantly, the Sun and the Moon try to find each other. But what they don't know, once you get lost in the universal maze, you can never find freedom.
So the Sun is never with the Moon, and the Moon is never with the Sun.
But the Sun sent the Moon gifts. Every evening gone she sent him a tiny piece of herself, to set themselves in his sky to keep him company.
He called them, 'stars'.
