We call it 'progress', and that implies forward motion from somewhere to somewhere else. Take a moment every now and then as you progress to glance back over your shoulder, and see where you were before now. Think about where you are going, and if that's really where you want to be.
An example: the harsh white of fluorescents is cold and lifeless, the softer yellow of incandescents is warmer and welcoming, but when we want to really enjoy our light we use candles or stand under the sun. The light we like best is the oldest; the more we progress, the farther we get from what we want.
Are we sure that we are progressing the right way?
