It's strange. I booked a trip a few weeks ago, picked up a copy of 'The Rum Diary' before entering the plane. Halted the stewardess and ordered some whiskey (otherwise my nerves wouldn't manage to stay calm during take off). Opened the book, read a couple of pages and to my surprise; the main character Paul Kemp does the same thing, except it's rum. Huh.
Got home from my trip a few days ago, and picked up where I left off. This time, Kemp and a woman go for a swim and up having sex on the beach (and I'm not talking about the drink).
Now, the weird part is that I met a beautiful woman and did the same thing.
It feels like the book telling the story of my life from a different perspective. There's so much I can relate to, and the fact that these two incidents happened before and after my trip, makes me wonder.
Or I'm just a lot like Paul Kemp.
