The shot zooms out to show Karl and the man running along under the pier and The Rats marching along above the pier. The man and dog are running as fast as possible. They get to a set of steps leading up to the rats; it's the only escape. However, although a risky strategy they have to act now rather than later. The man kneels down and kisses the dog on it's round head. A tear drips from the man and lands onto the dog's black nose.
Boom! The crack of a gun.
They've been spotted.
Man
We go on five
The man begins to count down from five with his dog focusing intensively on his troubled face.
The man runs up the steps into a barren grey wasteland. He looks to the left. Six of The Rats are galloping his way.
