Ext. Above the pier, barren road leading to a back alley - midday
The man cuts diagonally across the street into a back alley, Karl right by his side. The sound of 'The Rats' running across the pier fills the air. The man turns a corner and drops to his knees. The man draws his pistol and cocks it. He points it at his head
Man
(crying)
Aghhh! I can finish this Karl! Simple, straightforward!
Suddenly Karl grabs the gun in his mouth, drops it to the ground and places his paw on top of it. The man stares at Karl in wonder.
Man
Actions speak louder than words, my friend.
The man picks up the gun, confidence restored. The man jogs down the alley into a courtyard. 'The Rats' turn the corner of the alley and close in on him. Their reflection shimmering in the dirty puddles.
