“Stand up for what you believe in, even if it means you're standing alone.” — Unknown.
I try to do this, but nowadays, when everyone's opinion mirrors each other whilst they claim individuality, it's sorta difficult. No-one speaks about stuff that's close to them because they think no-one will agree and that no-one will be willing or interested enough to listen. It's a feat to find someone to have a discussion with on controversial topics that you want to state your view on because the only discussions going on around us are about other people – gossip. But listen up: next time you get an English essay and you have to choose a topic yourself, choose one you're passionate about. One that you believe in. And even if you feel like it's you against the world as you read it out in class, read it. Because even if people don't agree with you or call it dumb, they'll secretly wish that they could do the same. And it makes you feel good in any case.
Have confidence, because you deserve to be listened to. Don't follow the crowd just 'cause it's ‘cool’.
For me, I have a few topics I could rant about. Gay rights. Marriage. Society. Judgement. Social status. My screwed up generation. Iran's government. Labels. And when I get the opportunities, I will rant about them so people can hear me.
I love this quote, because it contradicts everything this society does, though this society would say that it supports it and that everyone's entitled to their opinion – although no-one's willing to listen & if no-one agrees and it's not just being said as a joke, we don't need to hear it.
I love this quote, and I will live by it.
Le end of le rant.
