Lost Love

How do we say goodbye
When it's not what we want?
It's not what we feel.
We know we are soul mates,
But now is not our time.
There are spouses in the bedrooms,
And kids at the table.
How do we go on
Living a life that's less than this?
Less than our sweet addiction?
Less than this soul to soul connection?
Should we never have started?
Most would say yes!
Morality, society, Christianity-
We've done them all wrong.
We know we won't be blessed.
How can something so wrong
Seem so perfectly right?
Some say it's the thrill.
Maybe for most that's true.
But we don't like hiding
Or doing what we do.
How do we stop a connection
That runs through every vein?
How do we say goodbye, my love?
Without you, I'll never be the same.
The smile you love and the bright blue eyes,
Will never be this happy and loved and fulfilled again.
In another life we would be perfect.
But now we say goodbye
To our soul mate.
And we die inside
Until we meet again!
