We were flying in sinc, the clouds passing us by. Our jets were fast but we managed to stay together.

This mission was going to be a hard one. We had to collect information and try to snap some pictures of the enemy base. This was going to help us out a big deal for our future attacks.

We were peacefully flying over when we were suddenly attacked by enemy aircraft. We fought them, the battle short but brutal. They shot at me mostly as I was closer and they used a good technique of focusing on one to go down. I didn't quite go down...

Yet.

You had made it out fine, a couple shots to the windows, and the paint had been scratched. But otherwise still fully intact.

As for me, my window was full of holes and I had been shot in the neck, just above my collar bone.

The bleeding wouldn't stop. I could hear you calling me, checking I was okay, "Charlie. Sound check. Over?"

I couldn't bring myself to speak, I was in too much pain. The radio went off again, "Charlie? I repeat, Sound check. Over."

I was too busy trying to stop the blood than paying attention to where I was heading. The radio voice was now filled with panic, "Charlie. What are you doing? Pick up!"

I grabbed hold of the steer and pulled it towards myself, causing me to almost go vertical. I let go again, my vision blurring. The sounds of the engine were fading and the aircraft continued the fall.

The radio had given up with code names and commands, now yelling down the line, "ALANNAH! PICK UP! PICK UP! PLEASE! AL? WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"

At that moment in time, I realised what was happening. I was plummeting to the ground, uncontrollably.

My vision was going and I was feeling very lightheaded. I fumbled for the eject button, my senses were failing on me.

I was crying in panic and pain. The radio was going nuts and I could tell by your voice that you were crying.

You had given up and were saying how much you'd always love me and never forget. This broke my heart, I knew I wasn't going to make it, especially now because you had given up on me surviving.

I said a small prayer in my head and picked up the radio transmitter. I pressed the button, taking a deep breath, "Delta. Thank you for always being there, thanks for making me happy, thanks for giving me the opportunity of serving my Country, Queen and Flag."

My last tear steamed down my cheek as I whispered my last breath down the line. "Delta. I love you."

I closed my eyes, ready for the impact. Bracing myself. There was a loud crash.

Then everything went black.
