Well this is my first opinionated post, and I chose the olympics.
Most people think the olympics is a waste of time, money and space but I think it isn't and I'll explain why.
Money: the olympics isn't a waste of money. The Olympics is providing us with a world platform like no other, it will attract tourists, businesses and lots of major overseas investments which Is good for the country. Yes the stadium etc. cost an awful lot of money but it will *if all goes according to plan* be reused, the village houses sold/rented out as luxury London homes, the park regenerated and used as a new public park and the venues will be open for public use which Is great for London because they don't even have many good public facilities for things like cycling and swimming so it will benefit the public too.
Space: the olympic regeneration of London renovated vast areas of brown belt land, things like the aquatics centre were built on brown belt land, which is great because it clears London of ugly industrial areas in dire disrepair that would cost billions to renovate into new industry sites.
Time: Yes, the Olympics took lots of time to prepare and build but so do things like the world cup and royal celebrations (the only reason we don't moan about royal celebrations is because we usually get the day off) and to be quite honest they are usually great for London and the UK as a whole.
So that is my opinion on the olympics, and yes i do agree with points such as traffic, pollution and "terrorist danger" and I do think Seb Coe and Jeremy hunt can't do their jobs but that's not so much to do with the Olympics.
(But I still don't get why Jeremy got the job, he's still under investigation isn't he? And what does culture have to do with the Olympics?)
