28 days We did a lot in those 28 days We left the system Collected supplies And set a course for a ship!
I've never left the land, so the idea of getting on a boat is a daunting prospect, but I know it's the only w-
"Hurry up Ally, we ain't goin to get there in time If you don't!"
I look up to see the gang, dressed in hides and furs trudging through the snow a good 3 Meters away from my standing point.
We've walked And walked And walked For a while now, I've watched the familiar faces of the landmarks I know so well fade off into the distance, Along with the snow, parting way to a stone and dirt filled Terrain, less and less snow as we've walked.
I don't know exactly where we're going, to a ship by the sounds of it, but why would anyone need a ship to get anywhere, it's all snow and dirt for miles aint it?
To distract myself from my thoughts I stare further at my surroundings, we're following a long dirt path at the moment, it splits two areas of sparse forest, made up of mainly tree stumps and the charred ground surrounding them. Theres still plenty of trees to cover us, but only 3 or 4 layers thick, any meandering off the path could land us in deep water.
The thought of water drags my mind back to boats. I wonder what kind of boat it will be? Will it be big? Small? Gran-
"Stop, stop right now everyone, We need to take a turn east!"
Chapter 11: The great eastern sea
Turning east was easier said than done, the path is a constant north so we had to venture beyond our tree lined runway and out into the snow covered wasteland of tree stumps and charred wood.
It casts the most horrible of shadows at night, the un-even terrain mixed with the charred remains of the forest create creatures out of nothing but light at all.
The only light beyond the moon we have is our lamp, one small oil burning lamp.
We have onyxs compass to guide us but I still have the feeling of being lost, I'm miles from home or anything i know well enough to recognise, onyx says we only have 2 more days to go, but I haven't seen the slightest sign of sea or water.
"Turn right at this rock and we're there"
And then I saw it, a door, built into the stone of the rock, grand in Both scale and design, covered in runes and engravings of patterns and shapes, all flowing in a mutual harmony, the dim light of the forest flickers against the engravings, making them glow a deep and capturing purple.
"Wow it's amazing, where does it go?"
"the great eastern sea of course"
