As friedrich Engels said, from first day to this, sheer greed was the driving spirit of civilisation.
So from the title and the quote you've probably gathered that I'm writing about greed.
Greed is a force, a civilisation building, corporation creator and killer, a state of mind and if you personified it, I'd probably call it a warped version of domineering.
Before I chose my year 10 options, my old maths teacher and business studies teacher (who I had spent one of my activity weeks learning about business with) asked me wether I was taking business studies, to which I replied "yes sir" he said that was fantastic and if I worked hard I could get great marks because I have a "business personality" so I asked him "what is a business personality sir?" and he said this.
"I can imagine you sitting at a massive mahogany desk with some fancy name tag smiling with your many business achievements and diplomas hanging on the wall behind you, If you amount to anything less, Id be unpleasantly surprised."
So I asked him again "but what is a business personality"
He replied "you've got a very adaptive personality, you can make anyone like you, you are smart and very good at talking to people, and if you did become rich and powerful, I doubt it would get to your head"
And at that last point I disagree, the whole reason I wouldn't want to be rich and powerful is because I'm too scared of what it would do to me, I'd become a dark greedy narcistic monster. And that's not what I'd want.
Greed ruins people, it turns people into someone they're not.
So that was my opus about greed.
