Heartbreak

They try and describe it to you when you're young. What it feels like. They warn you. They tell you not to be stupid, but when he comes around you realize, nothing they said was enough to hold you back. And then he's gone, and you can hear your heart screaming and your head scolding and you wonder, why didn't you listen? They were all right, they knew because they made the same mistake, and you realize that it will never end, it will happen to your friends and your daughters and you can't fight it off, because when you were young, you didn't see that they were screaming, begging you to listen but it's too late now.
