The cats' ears lay back in thought as rain knocks thunderously on the conservatory roof. Hailstones bounce off in all directions. I shut the windows ensuring both cats are in. We sit quietly listening to the thunder. Daisy's tail flickers as the lightning flashes. "That one was loud enough to wake the dead" I murmur, sipping my tea as the lightening flickers in the blink of an eye. Polly glances at me in understanding. Daisy stares up into the sky, and watches the lightening burst and the rain continue to hammer against the glass. I smile and scatter some treats on the floor. Daisy licks them up hungrily, whereas Polly calmly eats one by one. I sigh to myself as it seems to calm down, then gets harsher. A drop falls on Daisy's head. Her ears flatten and she shakes it off. I chuckle to myself in sympathy. Polly stares out the window, watching a black cat being thrown about by the wind. Satisfied, she trots off into the living room. Daisy nods her head politely and follows. I look up, waiting for one last flash, to find the hailstones come down much harder and louder. Polly pokes her head round the door, eyes large with fear. "Come on then. Inside we go" I whisper, shutting the conservatory door. "Till another day, thunder. Goodbye, rain. Regards, lightning".
