Cherry wood petals dropped around her, and she raised a slim hand to brush the pink flower pieces from her white hair. She pulled the needle through the embroidery cloth, sewing a picture of a mansion set in a rolling forest deep, the home she grew up in.
She heard her name being called, and looking up, she saw The Aunt's waving from the covered porch, all huddled together under a sun blocking parasol.
She laid her stitch work aside, and walked gracefully towards them. She was going to get a proper scolding out for sitting in the sun like that.
But as she neared them, they waved a letter, "It's for you, dearie!" Aunt Holga smiled wide as Aunt Jezebel put it in Circe's hand.
"Read it out loud, would you dear? Us old bats don't get much letters these days"
Circe flipped the envelope over, and fingered the seal. She hasn't seen it before, and it was lopsided. Whoever had put the red wax down had either been careless, or in a hurry.
She walked to the study, the Aunt's shuffling behind her.
As she slit the top of the envelope, a letter slid out in to her hand, and she quickly scanned it's content, her eyes narrowing.
"My respected sister;
I have decided to return to Sanguini estate and claim my lordship there as I have come into age. But I could never desire that alone. Would you come to our childhood home, and help me run the estate and it's matters as Lady Sanguini? Our mother never desired for us to be split apart like we were, and are, and I believe it to be time we rejoined.
I await your reply,
Your dearest brother,
Lord Hiroaki Sanguini"
She thrust the letter into the flames of the fireplace as the Aunt's protested.
"Child! What was in it?!" Holga squealed.
"Nonsense, utter foolishness. My brother is returning to Sanguini estate, and asked me to come with him. Does he think I'd let my reputation be tainted by someone like himself?" Circe angrily sat down in a chair, and dipped a quill pen in a pot of ink to write her reply.
Aunt Nyx spoke up now, "of course, my child. It is hardly fitting for a lady of your good standing to risk sharing a home with your brother. He has been raised by the worst kind of man, and has no doubt picked up his Uncle's habits" she moved to Circe's side, and tilted her niece's chin up to look at her. "You are better than he, and it would be best if you even forgot such a brother exists. He can bring you no profit, only misery. Besides, you are yet young, and to leave our guidance would be a fool's idea. And our Circe is no fool"
Circe nodded, "yes Aunt Nyx, I would never dream of replying positively towards Hiroaki" Nyx smiled, and led her sisters from the room. "Lets allow the girl to write her reply"
Circe dipped the pen in the pot again, and began to write her reply.
