After a shrimp picks his mate, they retreat to a Venus flower basket. This coral is essentially a tube and soon it closes in on both sides, trapping the shrimp inside. They still live their lives inside this Venus flower basket, and their offspring is tiny enough to escape through the coral. In some Asian cultures, they give the Venus flower basket to newlyweds, symbolizing a long term commitment of marriage. I think the Venus flower basket is a beautiful custom. I don't think our culture realizes the sanctity of marriage anymore. The idea of a wedding and getting married has been glamorized by Hollywood, but not the idea of marriage itself. Every woman wants a radiant diamond on her finger, a beautiful dress, and the knowledge that just for one day, she is the most beautiful and important woman in the room. But, not everyone wants marriage. Marriage isn't overrated. I think people just say that because they think its scary. It is. I know it will be really hard. I know we will make mistakes and fight sometimes. But, you've been my best friend for six years and my boyfriend for four. We aren't exactly alike, but we balance each other out. We fit together. I can't picture myself with anyone else and I really don't want to. I'm ready to start this new chapter.
So my answer is yes.
