Late at night from the sea You can hear a lullaby
There's a mermaid in the sea Who enchants with her singing
In the castle on the hill Lives a prince but he's ill
Every night with a light He goes to the seaside
Waiting there on a reef There's a girl that seems a fish
With a blow It's all dark The chant Has already begun
As soon as sun rises she dives In the swells and the prince goes to bed
Love it's not an easy thing And the prince is still ill His heart aches He sighs
One night the queen Saw the prince by the sea
Only a glance to understand Why his heart was in pain
The queen was a witch very powerful indeed She decided to treat his son's disease
But the only care was the mermaid So she enchanted her With a spell
Legs , feet and lungs For the fancy-ball that she threw
A dress, some jewels and a mask The mermaid now had a task
At the ball she fell in love With a guy In a red cloak
They went outside And danced all night Under a pale moonlight
But she remembered her task So she said goodbye And went away
Everybody wore a mask And she couldn't ask For the prince to meet her Since she was no more a mermaid.
She wondered alone Among the crowd But she felt tired And decided to rest
Sat on the edge of a fountain A glance to the water A man struggled in pain
An hand on his heart The other on his face The mask was no more at his place
Moved by the scene She approached him An hand on his shoulder A low gentle whisper
He gazed at her And she skipped a beat He was the man With the red carmine cloak
But not only this He was also The handsome pale prince
The time stopped They were alone No sound and no crowd Was around them anymore
He brushed her cheeks And touched her lips Everything finished With a passionate kiss
