I pretend to be asleep as my mum walks by to see if I'm asleep. She kicks me with the toe of her brown boot. It crunches my bones, but I ignore it. I've been in so much pain today, I can't feel anymore. I think of lily in the trunk underneath me. Motionless. I cry. I was alone in the world. I drift of to sleep...
