I looked up into the sunlight. It felt unusual, not really pain but nothing pleasurable. I tried to ignore it, and started walking towards what I thought was the main street of the village. I hesitated for a moment, wondering if the sun would be too much to bear out there in the open, as I was in a small back alley. Eventually, after four or five minutes of figuring out the right course of action I plucked up the courage to walk onto the street.
Surprisingly, it wasn't too bad. The rays of light felt slightly stingy on my pale skin, but it was bearable. At least until I found a better solution. Anyway, I thought that I should find out about this man that had summoned me. I wasn't entirely sure how to go about doing this, so I just dove in at the deep end and decided to ask the fishmonger that had set up a stall next to me. I walked to the front of his stall.
"Excuse me sir, could you tell me anything about the man who lives in that house there?" I pointed to the house I had just come out of.
"Eh?" the man replied in a heavy voice "Oh, that be old Robert McGranger. Always been a strange house, that. Been a ritual site for years. Hauntings left right and centre! Anyway, who are you? Haven't seen you around these parts..." the man began to get suspicious.
"Erm... I'm new. Just moved here this morning."
"Oh. And your name?"
Erh.... Goeffrey Walpole..." I hastily improvised a name.
"Well nice ta meet ya mister Walpole. Oh, and if you're looking for McGranger, try the Trollorr mountains. Always used to go there on expeditions. I can get you a guide if you want, it's only a two month hike."
"That would be great if you could!"
"I'll settle it right away. You come back here tomorrow mornin' and be ready for trekking!"
I thanked the man, and walked off in triumph, knowing that I had a lead on the man who I had attacked. The only question now was where to stay the night...
