New Girl - Part 4

For the rest of the day I had people coming up to me. This was not what I hoped for. I was used to going to a school, and barely being noticed and leaving. No fuss. Nobody knowing my name. This time was going to be different...
The bell for the end of the school day finally rang out, and there was a stampede of students desperate to get out of this hell hole of a school. I was plodding along listening to Florence chattering away about some mumbo jumbo, when a shadow appeared and stopped me in my tracks.
"going somewhere?" I lifted my head and came face to face with Sarah. What did she want this time?
"home." I replied simply.
"oh really now, because I said earlier I wasn't finished with you, and I meant that." were things about to get physical? Oh god, I was wearing a skirt, didn't want to kick her in the face and reveal my underwear to the world!!
"Sarah, what do you want with me? I don't want any trouble I just want to get on with my life, so can't we just avoid each other?"
Sarah looked surprised, "just avoid each other?!?" she shrieked "I'm sorry, but after you made me look a fool infront of the school, no we cannot just 'avoid each other' you silly little witch. You think you can just walk in here, dressed a differently and start making up new rules as you go along? NO. This school follows MY rules, and that's the end of it."
"what if the school is sick of your rules Sarah?" maybe that wasn't the right thing to say...
"what if they are? Who cares? Nobody would say anything, my mother works here, they are too scared of the consequences."
"I'm not scared. I don't care what the consequences are, this is a free country, and what difference does it make of your mother works here, if she were to do anything it would be an abuse of her power, am I right Florence?" Florence looked up at me, she had been silent the whole time, and clearly didn't want to be involved in this.
"um well, yes it would be, technically... Oh look Abby, your dads over there, quick let's go!" she grabbed my hand and made a dash for the gates. We made it out and to a random car with a guy sat behind the wheel.
"Florence this isn't my dad?" Florence laughed and met my eyes
"I know, but we had to get out of there, she was clenching her fist, I think she was going to punch you!" I scanned the cars which were all pulled up outside the school, and to my surprise my dads was actually sat over on the other side.
"ah right, well I'd have been able to look after myself, I do tang soo do, you don't have to worry about me, but thanks" I smiled genuinely at her "my dads car is just over there, how do you get home?" I pointed in the direction of the car
"I get the bus, um, I will meet you here tomorrow before school starts, okay?"
"okay sure, see you tomorrow!"
We both walked off in opposite directions, and I was suddenly very aware of everyone around me... Who knew when Sarah would pounce out.
I threw myself into the front seat of the car and shoved my bag down at me feet.
"hey dad," my father nearly choked on his coffee. I never spoke to my parents first.
"hey honey, how was your day?"
"interesting..." I replied.
"you didn't die then, see?" he chuckled
"hmm not yet," I smiled to myself, and as the car chugged to life we began the journey home.

As I lay in bed that night, I thought about what tomorrow may bring. I had no idea why I opened my big gob in the first place... Thinking about it now it may be one of the worst decisions of my life...
