(sorry for the delay, my little sister is very ill and I've been looking after her while my mum works)
When I woke this morning I really didn't want to get out of bed. I had a dream last night. It was about him. Ugh, I couldn't be doing with Sarah today. I heaved myself up and got in the shower. I decided to go with my really baggy, long black trousers today, with all the chains on, and my red top covered in little black skulls. I grabbed my black zipper jacket with the gothic cross and roses on and chucked it on top of my school bag. I was prepared for a fight today. I found out my black collar with silver spiked studs and put it around my neck. I has matching cuffs which I placed around my wrists and fastened in place. I pulled my hair back and up into a high pony tail, wouldn't want that getting in the way if Sarah was to confront me again. I applied my makeup fast and peeped out of the window trying to decide which shoes or boots tower today. It was chucking it down with rain. I pulled on my shiny doc martens with the skull pattern on. Good, now I was ready to leave.
I had a slice of toast with molten butter and jogged out to the car.
I met Florence where we said we'd meet. I was thankful she was there before me as she had an umbrella and I still needed to buy one...
We hurried into the main building along with about seventy percent of the students.
Florence had her curls all loose around her shoulders again today, but her eyes had a slight sparkle that wasn't there yesterday.
"you're in a good mood today," I met her eyes. There was definitely something different about her.
"oh it's nothing," she giggled "I like your hair like that by the way" she added
"nothing eh?" I smiled "and this? It's a mess, just wanted it out of the way, you know, Incase"
"oh, yeah!" the bell rang out for the start of school, and you could feel the mood suddenly drop in the crowded hallways. Every student gave off some sort of negative vibes, clearly not wanting to be here.
I sat with Florence through form time and then she dropped me at my first lesson. ICT. Eugh, I wish she was in the same class as me, she made things so much more bearable with her bubbly moods and quirky conversation. I shuffled into the class with all the other kids and slid into and empty seat.
After a couple of minutes a guy tapped me on the shoulder
"hey, um is this seat taken?" he asked gesturing towards the chair next to me. I shook my head and he flopped into it.
He had black hair that came down to his eyebrows and all swept to one side, he had two piercings in his left eyebrow, both his ears pierced, his tongue pierced and I noticed when he swivelled around in the chair that he also had one of those flesh piercings on the back of his neck. He was wearing baggy jeans, and a "skillet" hoodie. I decided I liked this guy very much, simply by his style. He turned back to face me.
"you're Abby right? The new girl?" I sighed and nodded, yup, the new girl, as always...
"awesome, I'm Lewis, your sense of style is freaking awesome, by the way!" well, that was a compliment.
"thanks, I like your piercings" he winked at me, making me laugh quietly.
"for the record, I'm totally on your side with this whole Sarah thing, and, like, if you ever need a hand or anythin' I'll come back you up. She needs putting in her place." he met my eyes and seemed genuine and determined. She had done something that had really hurt him, I could see the pain in his face. "nobody has ever had the guts to stand up to her before, I'm real glad you did"
"enough chit chat and get in with the task set, now you two!" a sharp voice interrupted us before I even got chance to reply to Lewis. He just looked at me, smiled briefly and then turned to his computer.
The day seemed to really drag, every lesson was a bore. I had no enthusiasm whatsoever for anything.
The bell went for lunch, and Florence came bounding along the corridor to meet me, although all her sparkle had gone. Something was wrong.
"you have to come quick!! It's Sarah, she's got a guy attacking Lewis, someone heard you two talking earlier and told her!! Hurry!" her voice was desperate.
"where are they?? Quick lets go!"
"on the playground!"
I knew my way roughly to the playground. I set off sprinting towards the doors.
When I got outside I froze. Lewis was curled in a ball on the floor, his face covered in blood, his hands were also dripping red.
"Get off him!" I screamed at the top of my voice without even really thinking about it. Every single head turned my way. "nobody hurts my friends!" I growled and began marching over to Sarah and the huge guy stood over Lewis.
This was it. War was on.
