The rain was still continuously pouring down from the heavy black clouds. I strode over to where Lewis was curled up and crouched down on one knee and the balls of my feet. I pulled Lewis up into a sitting position so that he was leaning into me. "are you okay?" I asked him, trying not to let the worry show in my voice "yeah I'm fine, had worse... " I raised one eyebrow slightly amused. Florence appeared by my side "oh god oh god oh god!" "Florence, sh, he's okay, nothing's broken he just has a bloodied nose, and one of his piercings ripped out, what took you so long anyway? Here, take over from me, keep him sat till he has caught his breath and then help him up and to the nearest medical point. Then wait there for me, I shouldn't be too long here." I moved my body away from Lewis, still supporting him with my hands, and Florence took my place. She came prepared with tissues, she pulled some from her pocket and held them to the rain. Once they were damp she began mopping his face. "sorry I can't run that fast, athsma" she panted out Lewis looked up to me and grabbed my hand, pulling me down close to his mouth "I need you to kick ass now, I'm sorry. I was just walking along and he swung at me. Have you had any training of any sort for a proper fight?" "more than you'd ever know" I whispered back. I squeezed his hand and rose to my feet. Okay so I had reached my black belt in "tang soo do" and had karate lessons but that was about it... I turned to face the huge guy. He must have been at least 6 ft tall, he had very short hair, and squinty dirty brown eyes. Considering his lack of hair he had massive thick eyebrows, which he arched up as I approached him. "hello pretty girl, don't start getting involved in a guys business now, will you?" he teased, sleazily. "I will get involved in a guys business when in involves a guy beating my friend to a pulp." I replied, neutrally. The big guy laughed a proper throaty laugh. Sarah's face twisted into an evil smile as she emerged from hiding behind him. "oh Abby, dear. You have no idea what you're doing, dressing like that doesn't scare me away, nor big Dave." she put her hand onto the big mans arm. So he was called big Dave. "I know exactly what I'm getting into. And I'm glad I'm not frightening you Sarah, that would have made my life so boring" "okay then little girl. Big Dave here will sure give you a run for your money. Actually I doubt you'll make it away from the starting line." I closed my eyes and stood with my feel shoulder width apart. I breathed in deeply, sucking as much air into my lungs as possible. I held the air there for a few seconds before slowly exhaling. As I let the air out all the stress, worry and guilt left my mind. "the fuck is she doing?" came a voice from the growing crowds around us. "shut up you jerk," another called out. With my eyes remaining closed I was becoming increasingly aware of every detail of my surroundings. I began to do my routine stretches, reaching down to the floor - when I sensed something flying towards the right side of my head. I swerved my body to the left, and rolled onto the floor before leaping back to my feet. I opened my eyes slowly to see every single witness gaping with their mouths wide open. "who was it you said was unsure of what they were getting themselves into?" I directed my sarcasm to Sarah. Big Dave just looked at his fist - still suspended mid air where he had thrown a punch towards my head. "nice..." he spoke slowly Sarah's eyes were so wide I wouldn't be surprised if they popped out of her head. A cheer erupted from the crowd of students who didn't seem fazed by the persistent drizzle anymore. Big Dave shook himself and prepared to throw another punch. He swung forwards towards my face with his right hand. My right hand swiped across, blocking his punch and then I swiftly chopped violently into the side of his neck. Knocked him out stone cold. I was taught that in my first ever tang soo lesson, if you chop into the side of someone's neck in the right place (hitting one of the arteries) with enough force it interrupts the blood flow to the brain and consequently knocks them out. Big Dave fell and sprawled across the playground. Gasps emitted from the students surrounding me. "anyone else want a turn?" I kept my eyes on Sarah. "I doubt they would want to get their hands dirty over you, you little witch." Sarah squawked. "good, then if you'll excuse me." I strode away towards the doors to the school building. The guy with floppy hair from yesterday came jogging up to me "hey, that was amazing!! Wait, slow up, where are you going in such a hurry?!" he breathed heavily "where's the nearest medical point please?" I asked, not slowing my pace at all. "right, sure, just follow me"
We arrived and Lewis was laying on a bed, covered in plasters, ice packs and bandages. "hey, woah, you've not even got a scratch, what happened?" Lewis quizzed "I'm fine, he's just unconscious on the playground." Lewis rose his eyebrows, and Florence's jaw dropped "it's true, she took him out with just one chop," floppy haired boy added "you're screwed..." Lewis looked at me "but she has quite an army of supporters..." "Jack's right, everyone loves her for what she's done..." Florence met Jack's eyes and smiled.
An army of supporters... How ironic.
