The waves gently lapped the shore,
He could not have asked for more,
Here with his beautiful girl,
He just wanted to kiss her, dance and swirl,
He looked deeply into her eyes with love,
feeling free as a dove,
She had the most beautiful smile,
He couldn't believe he had to leave in a while,
He kissed her gently on the lips,
And brushed her face with his fingertips,
How long they would be able to stay together he was unsure,
But he knew that for this love - there was no cure.
He didn't want to leave but he had no choice,
He absorbed the sound of her voice,
Before he knew it it was time to go,
This he told her so,
They kissed finally goodbye,
And he hurriedly left before he saw her cry.
He knew what he was doing was wrong,
But she was willing to play along,
His wife was waiting at home,
All on her own,
She didn't know his love was with someone else,
But he was unable to tell her himself,
He did not want to hurt his wife,
But knew he couldn't carry this on for the rest of his life,
He began to drive,
Tonight he would tell her even if it caused her to writhe,
He had no choice now,
It was time to take a bow.
