"honey! Dinner" shouted mum, I jumped from banister to banister going down the stairs
"hey!" I said happily mum and dad had already started eating
"Harmony don't kill the stairs" joked dad
"sorry, do you guys mind if I hunt instead of eating-" I glanced at the pile of slop on my plate " umm whatever that is" I said wrinkling my nose at the smell of it
"it's risotto" said mum smiling weakly I could see she hated it,
"well enjoy, I fancy some of 'my' food tonight" I said running out the door into the woods. I waited around for awhile for a deer or woodland animal to run in front of me, mum only let me kill animals. I caught the sent of a deer, my instincts started and I put my headphones on. I quickly caught up with the deer, it was old but wise, I ran along side it listening to cinema, it's face was worried and scared. Why did I kill? I grabbed hold of the deer but didn't hurt it. It's eyes we're black and shiny. It froze as I held it, it was breathing heaving but it's calmed down when I held it softly. I looked at its well build body, it's stomach was bulging, it was pregnant! I lay it down on the floor carefully and it staggered up but didn't run. I stood up slowly looking at the graceful creature I came closer to me and I held my hand up to its nose it placed its head against my hand and wined. I frowned as I staggered to the floor it had a deep cut on its leg where it fell. I kneeled next to it looking at its leg it was a deep cut, I felt a sudden jolt of heat in my body and a rush of pain. What was happening? I looked at my hands and they were surprisingly bright. Then it hit me! My powers were activated, it suddenly stopped the palms of my hands had strange marks on them. On my right wrist there were swirls and stars and my left there was a outline of a skull, snake and deer all twisted together. I stood up and looked at the deer on the floor I placed my icy hand against its cut and it healed automatically, I got up nuzzled my hand and walked away. I ran home to tell mum and dad what had happened
"mum! Dad!" I shouted as I burst through the door
"what's wrong?" asked mum standing up and sitting me on the sofa
"I was hunting, and-and I couldn't kill her. I can't, won't, kill animals or humans anymore"
"Harmony, you have to survive"
"fine I'll kill them if they want to be, but that's not all" I felt dad sit down next to me. I showed them my wrists, I looked at Dad and he smiled at me proudly, I looked up at mum. Her expression was unreadable
"mum? What power do I have?" I asked excitedly
"the strongest power of all" she said shaking her head
" what?" I asked
"the deer means peace and harmony, the snake means wisdom the skull means mortal."
"but I'm immortal, right?" I asked suddenly worried
"you are immortal. In your case I'm guessing that you have power of how mortal people die, you can make them suffer, or die quietly and quickly"
"so I have power over death?"
"yes" said mum, she didn't look happy, she looked more sad
"that's not the only thing you have the power of death. And also when you want to you can read people's thoughts, and you can bring peace and harmony, Harmony!" chimed in Dad
"wow! So I'm like a power God?" I said, I loved the idea of my powers, not so much of the skull but I guess it's ok?
"umm mum, that's not the only thing, I said pointing toward the swirls
"ahh, very good one this is!" said mum suddenly happy again
"you have the power of healing."
"cool, I healed a deer earlier!" I said proudly. The both kissed me on the forehead, I ran up to my room. I probably had the coolest powers ever! Death, peace, health and wisdom! Awesome... I hope.
