Secrets.

Part 5
!¡!¡!?¿?¿?

"Wha-what?" I stumbled, there's no such thing as vampires! Duh!
"Your Mother."
"What about my Mum?"
"She had a book. The vampires want your book because the book holds the secrets of the world. It says how to have eternal life, bring people back to life, and so much more! William Haynes was a scientist, he created the book 10 ten years ago. He created the vampires, they want it back." Edward sighed and hung his head sadly,
"But how come they're looking for me?"
"Your mum had the book and gave it to you. It looks like a normal book, but I would know which one it is if you let me have a look around?"
"How can I trust you?"
"I'm your friend." wait hold on! He's dead..
"Oh God..."
"What?"
"Your dead.. You died 5 hers ago!"
"Janie I did. My life was rubbish, I had to. "
"Your not dead though!"
"The book. It did belong to my father, Charles Smith, the scientist. He didn't die he had to leave but only for a few days. People presumed that he died, when he left I didn't know what to do, so I killed myself. When he got back I was.... Dead he used the book to bring me back to life."
"Ok... So I have the book?"
"Yep. Can I look round your house for it?"
"But you could be a vampire.." he knew so much why wouldn't he be..
"I'm not, they killed my Dad."
"Oh.. Come on, let's go to mine" we walked out of the cafe and walked down the street to mine. All the way down the street Edward kept looking behind his shoulder or tensing up randomly like there was someone there watching us..

When we got to the house I didn't bother knocking as I knew that Dad would be home, he works from home. He's an artist!
"Dad! I'm back! I've bought a.. Friend round for dinner" I called up the stairs, no reply.
"Dad?" I called again. I walked up the stairs Edward close behind. He was probably just having a little afternoon nap or something.
I pushed open the door to his bedroom. Dad's body was on the bed, not moving, not breathing.
"Dad? Dad? Talk to me!" I shouted at him. Edward rushed over to his side and gently rolled his body over so that his face looked up at us. Across his neck was a large cut full of blood.
"Janie I'm so sorry. It was the vampires they killed him"said Edward
"No-No they can't of"
"I'm sorry" I felt tears running down my face and onto my Dad's chin. I collapsed into Edward's arms and cried heavily.
"Janie we need to go now." Edward said calmly.
"Wh-why? I need to stay with Dad and bury him!" I pleaded,
"No Janie, they might come back and find us and you."
"Ok my rooms down the hall have a look around for the book, I'll pack my clothes to leave"
"Ok but hurry" he made his way to my room and I rushed down stairs to find the box with my clothes in it. I got my rucksack and stuffed it full of clothes and a pair of other shoes.
"Janie! Janie! I've got it!" called Edward from upstairs. His figure appeared at the top of the staircase, he ran down holding a book I didn't recognise,
"Can I see?"
"Well it is yours" he said handing it over to me,
"Thanks" the book was covered in red leather and bound by yellow string at the sides. The cover had some sort if writing on it I couldn't understand, I think it was Chinese!?
"What does it say?" I asked Edward,
"Secrets, now let's go!"
"Ok ok" We ran out the house leaving behind my new life and my old, I had no idea where we were going so I guess I should just let Edward lead.
"Where are we going now?" I questioned quietly,
"Somewhere"
"Is it a top secret base?"
"Maybe"
"Are we going to use the book?"
"You ask too many questions."
"Sorry.... One last one. The book doesn't look like a normal one, why didn't the vampires find it when they.. They killed Dad"
"The book has powers, it only reveals itself to it's owner, the vampires didn't know what to look for, I do and your it's owner"
"Oh ok.. You know vampires normally drink blood instead of killing people?"
"Yes, the vampires aren't completely vampires, they're more phantoms but.. Alive. They kill not drink"
"Oh that makes sense!"
"Hmmm, we're here." I looked up from the gravely floor. Stood in front of us was a large grey building. It looked a-lot like a orphanage or something around the lines, there was hardly any windows and the ones that were there were tiny that would only let a tiny bit of light in. Edward walked up to the metal door and punched in a code that I couldn't see.
"Edward?"
"Yes, I've got her and the book"
"Ok come in."
The door swung open standing in the doorway was a pretty woman in her 50s.
"Hello sweetie, I'm your Mother" she said.
