Part 1! ^-^-^-^

-1945- The war had just finished, it had only been a few months since the end but it felt nice. My name's Janie, not Jane, I'm 14 and from America. "Janie!! Come on we'll be late!" called Dad from downstairs, "Ok! Just packing" I shouted back down to him. I had finished packing at least an hour ago but truthfully I didn't want to go. There was a quiet knock from my door and Dad walked in hands deep in his pockets. "I know your nervous Janie but there's no need" Dad said sitting next to me on my bed. "But it's going to be such a change, schools, home, everything!" I complained like a spoilt child, "Think of it as a mad adventure, like the ones in your books" his soft grey eyes looked deep into mine. Dad was... Old, he was nearly 40! Most Dads were 30 nowadays. "But in most of my books the girls get married" I smiled and lifted myself up from the bed and got my suitcase down from the shelf. "Come on then let's go." I sighed taking one last look at my poster covered wall, "Ok got everything?" "Yep" We walked downstairs and both had a moments silence to look over our rickety old house. Our deep green colored car sat silently in front of the house. I threw my bags into the boot and jumped in ready for the long ride. Dad got in, started the engine and set off, "Next stop, London!" he said cheerfully, I just sighed and shut my eyes.

"Janie" whispered a kind voice in my ear, I fluttered open my eyes and sat up, "Where are we?" I asked dreamily, "London!" said Dad smiling at me, "Already! Which is our house!?" I said forgetting I was meant to be sad. How could you not be excited in a place like this? "The little sky blue one" Dad pointed towered the cutest house ever! It was a terrace but it stood out completely from the others. It was a bright sky blue colour with little windows painted White and a wooden door that looked quiet spiritual! "Wow! " I jumped out the car and pulled out my bags. Dad passed me a set of keys and told me which was the house's. I opened the door and walked into a furnished hallway. There was a little table with a vase on it full of pink flowers! I walked into another room that I guessed was the lounge, it had a large sofa with a striped rug covering it and a little arm chair. There was a large fireplace. The room led onto another room that was the kitchen/dining room. "Want to see your room?" Asked Dad, "Yeah!" I hurried up stairs and Dad showed me to my room. "Wow! It's lovely Dad!" it was perfect. The colour was apple green and cream white. A bed sat by the large window under a little alcove. It was huge! I went and found Dad sitting in his bedroom on the big double bed, "What's wrong?" I asked sitting next to him and taking his tanned hand, "Nothing. Shall I make some tea?" "Ok" he left and went down stairs leaving me to myself. I knew what was wrong, it was always the same thing. He missed Mum. So did I. It was a bad day for everyone. The bomb sirens were going off so of course we went to the shelter to well shelter. As soon as me and Dad had stepped into the shelter I noticed that Mum wasn't with us. Dad said that she wanted to get some special possessions and that she would be there soon. The bombs hit. She never came. The whole street came to her ceremony. Everyone loved my Mum, she was amazing. But now gone. I felt a warm tear roll down my freckled face and hit my hand. All of a sudden the doorbell rang loudly alerting me of the first visitor! I wiped away my tears and jumped down the stairs tirades the front door. I pulled open the door, smiling happily showing all my white teeth off. "Hi, I'm you neighbour, Edward Smith" said a boy who looked my age, he had golden sandy hair, deep brown eyes, archer's bow lips and all together a nice looking face. I held out my hand and shook his, "Janie Smith" I laughed at our same last names. He flashed a heart crumbling smile and handed me a little box wrapped in red tissue paper, "Welcome to our street! See you around Janie" He said walking away to his own house leaving me looking after him in a love-like trance.
