Chapter 8
"Hello Clay" I said walking up towards him. "What's wrong with you?" he asked frowning as I came up to him standing side by side watching the waves role in. "I am sick" I said plainly back. "Why didn't you tell me Frankie? When we met?" he said looking out on the horizon. "It never came up"I said pushing my hands down into my pocket. He looked at me in that moment and smiled. I knew he was the one who found me there in Coals that day. I knew he was the one to wait and wait at the hospital to find out which room I was in but never finding out. Just then no sooner than later I had finished my thoughts I had felt an overcoming felling of trust and friendship with Clay. I slipped my hand into his, and he firmly tightened his on queue.
"Maybe we could go to a waterside" I thought out loud. "Or we could get a cat or a dog, Oh Clay doest that sound exiting I have always wanted a Cat" I exclaimed as we strode the car park looking for a car that none of us had. "Why are we walking around a car park?" Clay asked me. "Well I guess because it is fun!" I said looking at all the cars lined up in one row and sorting them out so they matched. "Frankie this is no fun at all" He said looking at me. I stopped and looked up at him to. Still holding hand we skipped across the road to an ice-cream shop. "Ice-Cream is very good" he said to me as we entered the shop. "I scream you scream we all scream for ice-cream" I shouted as we walked up to the favors and a old woman stood there hushing me. "Hello miss-" I looked at her name tag, "Hedger how are you doing?" I said giving her my biggest smile. "fine" she snapped at me. "Hedger you going to feed me and my new boyfriend today we are very hungry and need to be treated to an Hedger Lees Icey-Cream"I said smiling at her. She raised her eyebrows raised and looking at Clay. "Sorry Hedger" he said smoothly, "my poor girlfriend here is a little loopy she suffered a nasty nock to the head and has never been the same, very sad very sad" he said looking at Hedger with these seducing eyes of which I had never seen before. "Oh Darling I am so very sorry" her eyes changing apologetically, "Please what do you need it's on the house" she said looking at me like I was a child. "Rainbow and a chocolate please Hedge" Clay said pretending to wipe tears from his eyes. She handed out Ice-Creams to Clay and he walked out whilst I was dancing around the shop leaving with a shout. We sat on the bridge of an old river dangling out legs of whist licking the creaming goodness in our cups. "Clay" I said shifting a very long and heavy sigh. "Yes" he said softly still looking at the ground. "I think that your fantastic" I told him smiling. "You have nearly spent any time with me, I could be an axe murderer" he said pretending to chop me in half. "Are you and axe murderer?" I asked him very softly raising my eyes brows. "No luckily I am no axe murderer I can bearly kill a mosquito" he said looking at his ice-Cream I looked over at his face whilst it was still. His hair was cut so it sat neatly on his head the wind picking up and blowing what curls he had around on his head. His eyes lapped a golden green which sank into a deep green. His cheekbones stay high on his face his chin just below his plump red lips. He saw me watching him and started to question it when his chocolate ice-cream dropped to the river creating a brown explosion. A giggle escaped my mouth which turned into a laugh and I couldn't stop the laugh grew that and grew before I knew it my rainbow colored ice-cream exploded into the clear salty river leaving a trail of colors along with it. I looked up at Clay giving a sad look, he held out his hand for a hug I reach out and pushed his into the icy river. His head bobed up our of the water looking at me he shouted. "hey!" he splashed up at me his hair lapping his face as he swam to the shore. I ran over to where he was getting out and stood on my tippy toes as he stood before me. I looked up at his dripping face placing my hands on his wet shoulders making me shiver, pressed my red lips to his icy ones. "You don't think that makes up for that do you" he smiled as he wrapped his long alms around mine and through me into water.
