I promised to defend you, your honor etched into my badge. I promised you to stay humane even when blood of another stains my hands. I promised to stand by my brother's and sister's leaving no one behind even if saving them costs me my own soul. I promised you that I would protect you, and when bomb's explode around me, in a firery blaze of hatred that I shall not run, but confront your, no, our enemies. Gun in hand, and pride on my shoulders. I promised to ignore the screams that cry out that your unjust, unfair, and dying. That i would be one of the few to announance in a boombing voice that you are freedom, that you are precious, worth dying for even when you are sick from politicians who are polluted by greed. I promised you that my fate, my honor, and my soul were yours. That i would become the one called by everyone a monster for protecting what i love. I promised you that i would become a soilder.
I promised so much, and everytime doubt sneaks in through holes in my soul, your red, and blue stripes that embrace unchained stars frees me reminding me of every single promise i made.
For i am your soilder, I am a american soilder.
