-The trickster is a clown, a mischief maker. He provides the comic relief that the story needs to offset tension.
-He keeps things proportional.
-The trickster usually represents the force of cunning, and is pitted against opponents stronger or more powerful.
-Can ally with the hero or the villain, or even swap back and forth.
