Hello fuzzy friend

It has come

To my attention of late

That you are always there

When I'm not feeling so great

And when I come home

Or when I need a hug

You help me through

The colder days and nights

And I just want to thank you

Even though

You're a little bit odd looking

With your green fur

And blue ears

I just thought you ought to know

Coz, I look at you and see

So much wisdom

And empathy

Staring from your soft black eyes

I know you understand

Whatever I share with you

And you won't ever judge me

Or hurt me

Or leave me

Or find someone else

That's that little bit better

And that you'll be there

Whatever the weather

And how many times

Have my tears

Fallen on you throughout the years?

Yet you never complained

You just stayed

And nuzzled at my neck

Till your fur was soaked and salty

And my emotions were in check

That's why I keep you

Safe in my bed

And hold you at night

So close to my head

But at the end of the day

My stuffed green hippopotamus

I'm 23 years old

I have no childish excuse

I just plain adore you

And will do, to my end

My wonderful, comforting
