This is the beginning. I'm sure of it. I can't start anywhere else. 'The beginning of what?' you may ask. Well, the beginning of my story. The beginning of me.
My eyes fluttered open, the bright white light filtering in through my dark eyelashes. I squinted groggily at my surroundings as they slowly came into focus. The room I now lay in was large and perfectly square. There were four transparent walls, each one crowded with men and women clad in starched white lab coats, whispering things into their earpieces. Their cold gazes were intense and emotionless. They were scientists. I was sure they were. But there was no way I could know that. Surely. Come to think of it, I didn't even know who I was. Slowly, I sat up. It felt strange, almost unnatural. Somehow, it felt like it wasn't my body, but someone else's. I swivelled my head round, scanning the scientist's faces. Every one stared stonily back at me, their faces, pale masks, devout of any human emotion. "Hey," My voice sounded unfamiliar and unused, a mere rasp. "Hey!" The scientist's hadn't shown any sign of hearing me. Maybe it was the thick glass walls, or maybe they were just ignoring me. "Hey! Who are you? Why am I here? Let me out! Answer me!" The words came tumbling out of my mouth. There was no answer. I slumped down against another glass wall, my heart beat thudding in my ears. I didn't know much, but I did know that everything was wrong, wrong, wrong.
