I wear my cover,
Like a coat,
To shield me from the rain,
Of prying eyes,
And wicked lies,
To stop you causing pain,
What you see now,
Is just a shell,
A silhouette of where I dwell,
A ploy to keep you from the truth,
A lock of which no key can fell,
If you use force,
I'll tie the knot,
A double threefold tighter,
You'll see a door,
Where there's a wall,
If you play as the fighter,
But if you take the time to search,
Not too far from the surface,
You'll find the secret to my lock,
You'll find my hidden purpose,
The lock will snap,
I'll let you read,
A page of my first chapter,
My words I'll show,
For you to know,
The first are filled with laughter,
Read on some more,
And you will find,
There's more to me than meets the eye,
You'll see a glimpse of my true form,
You'll see a glimpse beyond my wry,
Then, if you dare to read some more,
You'll find out what is next in store,
My darkness, spells, all seeing eye,
And why I'm not afraid to die,
This twisted plot,
I'll slowly show,
To your still narrow sight,
If you read on,
I'll warn you now,
You'll get hooked on this write,
I'll drag you down,
With every day,
My words,
Will show you,
Why I stay,
The way I am,
And why my passion,
Burns white hot,
Quite out of fashion,
When you read beyond the words,
And read between the lines,
I'll shut this book I'm wearing now,
And let you read my true soul sign,
You'll be the first,
If you can bear,
The toxic words,
I've placed in there,
No heart has read beyond my lines,
No heart has seen my true soul kind.
