10 November 2012
Calling all Opussians. It has been a week now since I put the original Project Humanity post up on Opuss and, throughout the week, I have received overwhelming positive feedback and support. You're probably tired of me thanking you so much, but I'm going to do it again, anyway. Thank you. Now, onto business. Agenda A has been in progress for five days and is now ready to be released. It consists of three parts, which are all listed below:
Spread the Word
It's in the title. Spread the word! Project Humanity currently has 34 active supporters. If every one of us gets just 2 friends involved in the project, the number will automatically rise to over 100. I ask you all to consider this simple possibility. Over 100 activists joining together to 'fix' humanity. And, yes, Project Humanity is the dictionary definition of activism, 'the policy or action of using vigorous campaigning to bring about political or social change'. This is an amazing feat that we are attempting, but not in the least bit impossible. Activism is how the world has evolved over the years, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. If this project is successful, then the world will definitely be a better place. So, go on! Tell as many people as you can and don't forget to leave the number in the comments section of this Opuss. As they say, the more, the merrier.
Random Acts of Kindness
Again, as the name implies, part 2 of the agenda is quite simply Random Acts of Kindness. Try this on for size, every day left of November, whenever you get the chance, perform at least one random act of kindness. It can be as simple as smiling at a passer by or even just making friendly eye contact every now and then in conversation. It can be as easy as holding the door open for someone else or being gracious enough to give up your precious priority seat for another passenger. I once saw a mother carrying a baby forced to sit at the back of a bus when the group of teenagers huddled around the front of the vehicle refused to move for her to sit down, it's everyday occurrences such as this that make my blood boil and give me inspiration for Project Humanity. S-i-c-k.
A Day Without (19/11/12)
I can see your hand almost moving away from the screen as I type now. A Day Without is not as ominous as a day without Opuss, a day without food or a day without, dare I say it, make-up! It is a day without negativity. But it is more complicated than that. Eradicating all negative thoughts from your mind for one day will not be easy. I am not asking you to lock yourself in a room full of kittens and marshmallows and ignore everything and everyone in the outside world, mind. I'm simply asking you to find the silver lining, the half full glass, be positive. If at all possible, distance yourself from people and tasks that put you down and make you feel negative. If you can't be a happy bunny for the whole day, just try to start off your morning with a stretch, a little more coffee in your cup and a spoonful of honey. This isn't a game, though, so don't worry if you get stressful midday about an exam, you won't get 'disqualified'. By taking part in A Day Without, you will find that you have control over you and that you have power over something, anything, and that in itself should be enough to show you that you CAN make a difference.
Well, that is pretty much that. Agenda A is out there now and ready to be judged. Thank you for reading this. I will always keep you updated. MelchiorJ13, over and out.
